J. Vela was founded in 1892 in Navarra, Spain. They’ve kept the same manner of cooking, using a wood oven, and canning each product for 120 years. Their main goal hasn’t changed in over 12 decades and that’s to keep their products quality at its highest for each customer to enjoy. In Spain, white asparagus are very common and used as an appetizer before lunch or dinner, or even as a snack between meals with some cheese. J. Vela is one of the few producers that grow their own asparagus in Spain. To get extraordinarily thick spears the asparagus plant has to be several years old, as young plants yield thin spears. You can serve these with Chovi Allioli, with salads or a vinaigrette.
